Penile Implant
Penis Enhacement by Penile Implant
A penile implant is not a method to enlarge the penis but a surgical procedure to allow erection and successful penetration for sexual intercourse. The surgery involves placing a device inside the penis and there is a risk of infection as well as malfunction of the device. However, since the time they are first introduced as a treatment for erectile dysfunction, newer materials and surgical procedures have been developed. Most men report that they and their partners are satisfied with the results. The procedure is medically known as penile prosthesis and some devices involve a vacuum pump. Indications for penile prosthesis surgery are prevalence of vascular disease, diabetes, surgery for bladder or prostate cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is also indicated in impotence due to many other medical conditions including genital trauma and drug therapy. It is however not advisable in poorly controlled diabetes because of a high risk of infection. It is also not advisable in cases of bladder obstruction due to risk of excessive urine retention. The main objective is to allow sexual intercourse and for this purpose two types of penile prosthesis are available. The first is rigid or semi-rigid malleable rods that provide varying degrees of stiffness and the second is inflatable devices.
Nearly one third to one half of the penis is internally attached to the pelvic bone. Penis lengthening or penis enhancement surgery is a procedure through which the ligaments that attach erectile bodies to the pelvic bone are released. Penile lengthening is not a safe procedure as it involves a high risk of losing the ability to obtain an erection.
Penis enhancement pills, on the other hand, are a hoax. There is no pill that can work to enhance the size of the penis. The same is true for penis patches and creams and ointments offered over the Internet. There is no substance in the claims nor is there any scientific evidence to support their efficacy.
Penis pumps or vacuum pumps are fitted over the penis. The device creates a vacuum around the penis to allow blood to flow into it, which creates an erection. These have their use in conventional treatment of erectile dysfunction but not a method for penis lengthening. The fact is that there is no non-surgical method for male penis enhancement.
There are some other methods intended to enlarge the penis. These include exercising the smooth muscles and other tissues of the penis. Stretching or penis traction is another method. Hanging with a weight attached is perhaps the oldest method that was practiced by African tribes. One can try cosmetic penis enhancement by trimming pubic hair or by losing weight.
Erectile dysfunction is now treated with pills such as Viagra, Levitra and Cialis. These allow erection to occur for varied periods for successful completion of sexual intercourse. Unlike a penile implant, which is a surgical procedure with accompanied risks or jelqing exercises, these oral pills are not only safe but also the most recommended treatment of erectile dysfunction.
